JULIAN HUXLEY | COACH

Julian developed a comprehensive knowledge of rugby during his playing career, which saw him play in a Super Rugby final, a World Cup 7s final and as a Wallaby in the 2007 Rugby World Cup. Now as a coach, he enjoys the team and communal environment of rugby and will do anything I can to help and contribute to the
group’s success.
Julian played numerous key positions in the backline (10,12,15) and as such developed a comprehensive understanding of the game.
Playing these positions requires excellence, not only individually but an ability to direct and manage others in the implementation and adaptation of team strategy.
Julian has a good 4 years of coaching behind him meaning that he is not a former elite player relying on playing experience alone. The past 4 years of coaching has put him in a strong position to make the most of an international playing career by combining this elite playing experience with comprehensive understanding of programming and pedagogical techniques.
Julian notably returned to Super Rugby after overcoming brain surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy in 2010.
Outside of Rugby Julian is heavily involved in the Sydney Brain Cancer research community. After surviving brain cancer in 2008 Julian has worked hard to raise much needed funds for brain cancer research and patient care. Julian is an Ambassador of The Brain Cancer Group.
